Maharashtra ready for DPC power at Rs 2.20/unit

The Maharashtra government has conveyed to the central government that it is willing to purchase power from Dabhol Power Company (DPC) at Rs 2.20 per unit.

"We have conveyed to the centre our willingness to purchase power at Rs 2.20 per unit from the Dabhol plant," Maharashtra energy minister Dilip Valse-Patil said today.

The state, which is facing a shortfall of more than 2,800 MW, has been purchasing power at Rs 3.10 per unit to tide over the deficit.

Patil said the state government has issued a GR for the unbundling of MSEB, but did not disclose as to what stage the progess has reached.
