Maharashtra to offer jobs to CWG medallists

There is a good news for players from Maharashtra who have bagged various medals in the ongoing Commonwealth Games. The Congress-led government in the state has decided not only to appoint them as Class I officers but also give cash prizes for excellent performance.

So far, Maharashtra has a total of 11 medals — four gold, four silver and three bronze — to its credit. The decisions were announced by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan at a press conference here after a weekly cabinet meeting. Chavan said there would be a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh for each gold medal winner, Rs 7.5 lakh for silver and Rs 5 lakh for bronze.
