Major fire in Mumbai, no casualties reported

A major fire broke out early this morning in a prominent commercial hub of the metropolis.

The fire broke out in Manish Market, Sara shopping complex and adjoining areas in south Mumbai at around 3.45 am, but there are no reports of casualties so far, fire brigade sources said.

However, as many as 20 stalls were gutted. Nearly two dozen fire engines were rushed to the spot, the sources said.

The cause of the fire was not yet known.

Municipal Commissioner Subodh Kumar said all efforts were being made to bring the inferno under control.
