Malaysia has seen a drop in number of unemployed last month which indicates that situation arose due to the world economic slowdown is improving slowly, Human Resources Minister S Subramaniam said.
A total of 27,000 workers have been laid off throughout Malaysia as of February which dropped to 22,000 last month indicating that many had found other jobs, Subramaniam said.
"This means that 5,000 people who had been retrenched earlier were either reemployed at their old working place or had found new jobs," he said.
The minister said many industries which had implemented the "close downs" and "lay-offs" had begun to resume normal operations, indicating that the situation had improved from employer the to source workers.
