Retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay, an accused in the last year’s Malegaon bomb blast, today moved to a special court seeking permission to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In an application filed before Special MCOCA the former Army officer, has expressed his desire to contest the polls and serve the country. Besides him, ten others, including Lt Col Prasad Purohit and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, have been chargesheeted by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in the case.
Although the application doesn’t mention the seat from where he will contest, it is expected that he will prefer his home town Pune or Nashik. The application, which will be heard tomorrow, seeks court permission to allow Upadhyay to fill in the requisite forms, submit documents and affidavits.
