Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday left for Delhi to plead with the Central Government for financial assistance to her cash-strapped government.
"Going to plead for Bengal," replied Banerjee cryptically before leaving for the airport.
However, she declined to comment if she would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
During her 2-day stay in the national capital, Banerjee will brief Trinamool Congress MPs about the party's stand on various bills that would come in the winter session of Parliament.
She will also address a seminar 'Rising Bengal' at the International Trade Fair tomorrow. Union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, Commerce and Industry Minister Ananda Sharma and Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath are also likely to attend the seminar. Banerjee is planning a global summit in Kolkata on industry for which central cooperation is imperative. The Chief Minister is also scheduled to meet the national media at a dinner at the residence of party chief whip Sudip Bandopadhyay.
