Mamata unhappy with Rajan Committee Report

Mamata claimed that Bengal will lose over Rs 4,000 crore of central funds due to the report

BS Reporter Kolkata
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed dissatisfaction over Raghuram Rajan Committee Report and has termed Centre's approach towards Bengal "discriminatory".

"I am deeply shocked and anguished by the outright and discriminatory approach of the Central Government towards Bengal in entertaining the Raghuram Rajan Committee Report," Mamata stated on her official Facebook page.

Mamata claimed that Bengal will lose over Rs 4,000 crore of central funds due to the report. "The allocation of central funds for Bengal will be reduced hugely from 6.93 per cent to 5.50 per cent, thus directly hitting lots of developmental projects in the state targeted to the poor and the needy," Mamata stated.

The chief minister has claimed that Bengal will suffer though it's a leading debt-stressed state. "No one ever thought about more than Rs 2 lakh crore of debt thrust upon us by the previous government. No one ever thought that we will have to pay nearly Rs 28,000 crore this year towards loan repayment and interest liability," she added.

Mamata has alleged that the Centre is acting on "political lines and partisan machinations" adding that "We strongly protest this discriminatory attitude".
