Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee today visited CPI-M patriarch Jyoti Basu in a private hospital where he was admitted yesterday after falling unconscious at his residence for a brief period. Emerging from the hospital, Banerjee told reporters that the veteran Marxist was keeping well.
"He was awake. When I asked him about his health, he said he is well. We want Basu to be in good health," she said. Basu, who turned 96 on July 8, had also complained of stomach pain before being hospitalised, party sources said.
