Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today said Manmohan Singh is UPA's and Congress candidate for the post of Prime Minister, reaffirming the stand of the party leaders that there is no vacancy for the top job.
"Manmohan Singh is our PM, he is UPA's PM," Gandhi said while addressing a rally in support of the Congress candidate Harish Choudhury here.
Taking a dig at the BJP's 'India Shining' campaign in the last elections, Gandhi said, "NDA has India Shining ideology, its India for stock market, privatisation and the rich and the elite."
Stating that Congress ideology was for the development, he said, "I can never say that India is shining till the time there is even one single poor person living in the country."
Gandhi also questioned NDA's commitment toward farmers, who formed a majority of the gathering today and said, "One of the leaders of the NDA's former allies in Andhra Pradesh said that the country did not need farmers as they were so many call centres operating there."
