Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said that she never wanted to become the prime minister. Even in 1999, when the Congress came close to forming a government, she told Manmohan Singh that he would be the prime minister, the Congress chief has said in an interview to a private television channel.

She also put an end to speculation about Rahul's entry into the government saying this would not happen anytime soon.
