Maya unveils projects worth Rs 1,500 cr

With Uttar Pradesh Assembly poll fast approaching, chief minister Mayawati has unveiled 160 development projects worth Rs 1,500 crore spanning power, medical, health, Public Works Department (PWD) etc to mark the 55th death anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

In power sector, projects worth Rs 375 crore have been launched to strengthen the transmission and distribution network in the state to ensuring uninterrupted power supply, which remains a tall order for the power utility UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).

These projects include 765 kv Uanno transmission sub-station involving a cost of Rs 302 crore, 132 kv transmission sub-station in Agra. Besides, 16 distribution sub-stations of 33/11 kv have been launched.

 

To provide potable water in arid Bundelkhand, the chief minister launched projects estimated at Rs 275 crore for piped water supply in Chitrakoot, Jhansi and Mahoba districts in the region.

She launched projects worth Rs 31 crore in medical, health and family welfare, which are aimed at sprucing up the primary health centres, community health centres and multi specialty hospitals located in Lucknow, Gonda and Balrampur districts.

In PWD, Rs 161 crore have been proposed for widening and up-gradation of highways running across Lucknow, Etawah, Bahraich, Kushinagar, Sitapur, Kanpur, Mirzapur, Allahabad, Sultanpur, Jyotiba Phule Nagar and Basti.

Mayawati laid the foundation of 24 bridges, which would entail expenditure of Rs 560 crore in Allahabad, Lucknow, Basti, Moradabad, Bijnore, Sitapur, Ambedkar Nagar, Bareilly, Ghazipur, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Gora-khpur, Saharanpur, Banda and Kanpur.

Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (RNN) would undertake projects involving investment of Rs 160 crore.
