Mehrishi takes over as new economic affairs secy

He replaces Arvind Mayaram; KV Chowdary moves from CBDT to SIT

Rajiv Mehrishi took over as economic affairs secretary on Friday, replacing Arvind Mayaram.  

Meanwhile, Subash Chandra Garg, officer on special duty in the Department of Economic Affairs, has been relieved of his duties with effect from Friday to take his new assignment  as executive director in the World Bank.

Before this, Mehrishi served as the chief secretary of Rajasthan and played an important  role in major labour reforms in the state. He  will replace Mukesh Prasad.

Meanwhile, farewell was given to Mayaram, additional secretary in investment and capital division K P Krishnan, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman K V Chowdary, Central Board of Excise and Customs Chairman J M Shanti Sundharam.
 

On retiring from his present job, Chowdary was on Friday appointed as an adviser to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is probing black money cases.
