Mine school placements up

The students of the Dhanbad-based Indian School of Mines (ISM) belonging to the disciplines of computer science engineering and electronics and mechanical engineering, have earned record salaries in the placements for 2005.
 
ISM started inducting students in these disciplines in 1995 and the success in placements has come upto the institute's expectations, said sources.
 
In the placement tally of the class of 2004-2005, more than 60 per cent was selected through the campus selection process last year itself.
 
Later, other companies had joined in the recruitment process, said the source.
 
The management department of the ISM reported 100 per cent recruitment in 2004, including many jobs with leading multinational firms, the source claimed.
 
In the last five years, placement have exceeded expectations.
 
Major companies looking for specialists were visiting the ISM campus as in some disciplines, ISM students offered better skills that their IIT counterparts, said the source.
