Miners & #8217; Stir Fails To Deter Singareni

Despite the 17-day strike that resulted in a loss of 10.69 lakh mandays, the state-run Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is well on its way to meet the production target of 32.5 million tonnes (MT) of coal for the current fiscal 2002-03.

As against the proportionate production target of 27.2 MT as on date during the current fiscal, SCCL recorded a production of 28.2 MT. The company lost only 2.25 lakh tonnes of coal production valued at Rs 21.25 crore during the strike period. Loss of wages for the employees who went on strike is estimated to be around Rs 38.5 crore.
