The Lokayukta Court here on Friday deferred pronouncement of orders to October 17 on the the bail plea of Managing Director of Jenthakal Mining company Vinod Goel, an accused in the private complaint filed against former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, after he failed to appear in the court.

Goel’s absence on September 30 had forced the court to defer pronouncement of the orders to Friday.

When the matter came up, Judge K N Sudheendra Rao expressed unhappiness at Goel’s absence. His counsels Tomy Sebastian and Vinay Keerthi requested the judge to exempt his client from appearance, citing medical reasons.

The judge then said the court can issue warrant against the accused. After repeated requests from the counsel for Goel, the judge posted the case to October 17 ordering that he has to appear in the court on that day without fail. Goel’s counsel Sebastian filed an application under relevant CrPC sections seeking exemption from personal appearance saying his client was suffering from back pain after he fell in the bathroom.

Advocate Vinod Kumar had filed a complaint against Kumaraswamy that he made bulk allotment of land to a private housing cooperative and ordered renewal of mining licence of Jenthakal Mining company bending rules when he was the chief minister of the state.
