Minister to inaugurate Kannur textile centre on Apr 16

The textile centre at Taliparamba in Kannur district, promoted by the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra), will be inaugurated by Union textile minister for states Panabaaka Lakshmi on April 16 .

A central government-sponsored project, the Kannur centre will offer entrepreneurs incentives as well as training and management support.

Of the 124 acres, 94.80 acres will be allotted for setting up textile units. The whole centre has been divided into six pockets and one of them will be the proposed wet processing area, which will comprise the common effluent treatment plant, dyeing and winding plant, bonded warehouse, water harvesting pond and a hazardous waste treatment plant.

 

Another plot of 33.76 acres has been reserved for the establishment of weaving units, while a mini-apparel park spread over 9.70 acres will house the standard design factory, apart from a crèche and a dispensary.

The centre is envisaged as a comprehensive textile industries park under the Kinfra International Apparel Park, a fully owned subsidiary of Kinfra.
