Strong winds of over 40 knots led to an accident at Petronet LNG Ltd's terminal at Dahej late on Saturday when the tug boats of LNG carrier "Disha" hit the Dolphin Piles of the jetty. The LNG ship was casting off after unloading the cargo.

PLL is evaluating the extent of damage. Plans are also afoot to divert cargo which is expected on September 21, 2005, to Shell's Hazira terminal.

GAIL India Ltd, main marketer and transporter of R-LNG from Dahej, has taken measures to evacuate gas from the Hazira terminal.

In order to reduce the impact of the shortage of supply on customers caused by the accident, GAIL has requested the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and PMT JV to augment their supplies.
