Urging citizens and industries alike to plan for the next 15 years instead of glorifying the past 61 years of Independence, management thinker C K Prahalad highlighted the roadmap for India's growth by 2022.

On his visit to the city to interact with members of Young Indian (Yi), an arm of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Prahalad talked about his vision 'India @ 75' which has been adopted by the industry body as its emerging agenda.

"Much of the growth retardation for the country comes from corruption which is caused due to limited supply. For India to grow as a world power, even the public utilities need to be market-oriented. Sectors like education, health among others need to adopt market-oriented methods and follow demand-supply situation to wipe out corruption," said Prahalad.

Talking about 'unemployability' in the industry, Prahalad said, "We have created tremendous proliferation in schools and higher educational institutions which is affecting the employability of those who passout from here. Public private participation (PPP) is the only answer to make our human resources more bankable. However, government and industry are realising the importance of PPP in education and are bridging the gap between curriculum and industry requirement to avoid supplying unbankable human resources."

Under the emerging agenda, Yi and CII will be creating task forces across 18 states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to get public opinions on 'India @ 75' before submitting a final draft of a national requirement of possible actions towards the vision to the Prime Minister on January 26, 2009.

"Apart from creating task forces, we are also identifying experiments that fit the vision of 'India @ 75' across the country and promoting them. For instance, several small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are being suggested to create an ecosystem similar that supports them as well as large companies around them," said Alok Sanghi, chair, Yi Ahmedabad chapter.
