At a time when the MMRDA and MSRDC have locked horns over development of key infrastructure projects in the metropolis, the Mumbai's nodal development agency (MMRDA) has sought repayment of its dues close to Rs 1,350 crore from the latter.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has written a letter to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) asking it to repay the defaulted loan amount to the tune of Rs 1,356 crore.

"We have written a letter to MSRDC informing about the repayment of the dues which it owes to us. We are not saying that MSRDC has defaulted. It is a routine procedure where we inform them about the amount due to us," MMRDA's Metropolitan Commissioner (In-charge) SVR Srinivas, said here.

The development assumes significance in the light of the fact that the two agencies are wrangling over who would develop the much-hyped Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project.

Taking into consideration the number of projects undertaken by the MMRDA, the amount repayable is quite significant.

"Though it is a huge amount, non-repayment of it will not affect the progress of the projects we have already undertaken. We have enough money to carry out the projects," he added.
