Washington-based Apco Worldwide has bagged the project for globally hardselling Vibrant Gujarat-2011, a 'Davos in Action'.
Apco was earlier given the task of image make-over for chief Minister Narendra Modi and the state of Gujarat in the western world. Four firms, including Hanmer & Partner, Ogilvy & Mather and Concept PR, were in the race for the final round of bidding for Vibrant Gujarat that was held today at Gandhinagar .
Besides roadshows in various countries, the government has sought presence of 50 countries at the summit and participation of 100 hundred different institutes of repute from across the globe, as part of the bidding process. Apco quoted Rs 14.5 lakh per month for the PR drive that will go on for seventeen months, starting from November 1. Weightage for technical presentation was 70 per cent while for financial quote had 30 per cent weightage, said an official of a PR firm who had participated in the bidding.
Hamner & Partner scored second with 58 points while Apco bagged the project with 61 points, sources close to the development told Business Standard. Hamner & Partner quoted Rs 30 lakh per month.
In January 2009, the fourth edition of the summit brought in huge investment promises of $243 billion, despite economic slump.
For Vibrant Gujarat-2011, about 10 firms were in fray including Weber Shandwick along with Grey Worldwide, Vaishnavi and Twenty-Twenty. However, all these firms dropped out after the first round, sources said.
