Modi wants Gujarat to be SEZ capital

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi wants state to become SEZ capital very soon.
 
Modi in his speech in 'Annual Session & Gujarat Economic Summit "" Managing Growth' organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Monday said there are around 11 Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Gujarat and state is planning to develop more SEZs with investment of thousands of crore.
 
Modi also said Gujarat will be the state with highest export and production.
 
Talking about agro business, Modi said the state will establish 'Agro Export Zone' with SEZ, warehouse and ports on the state's coastal area to capture global market.
 
He also added that three years back, Gujarat was exporting agro products worth of Rs 9,000 crore which has increased to Rs 25,000 crore and by next fiscal it will be around Rs 28,000 crore.
 
Similarly, he said that in textile industry, Gujarat will provide farm, fabric, fibre and fashion to foreign countries.
 
Talking about the infrastructure investment, he said that state is investing more than Rs 12,000 crore including Rs 7,000 crore in expansion.
 
However, Modi said by the 'Jyotigram Yojna', very soon, Gujarat will be the only state where each and every city, town and village will be having electricity and water.
 
In the summit, it was revealed that Gujarat economy recorded 15.4 per cent growth rate in 2003-04 and is expected that by the end of 2006-07 the state will achieve the target of 10.2 per cent growth rate set by the Planning Commission for the Tenth Five Year Plan.
 
Speakers believe that with the right strategic and policy intervention, Gujarat would have the ability to grow even faster.
