The Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) has cleared four environment oriented projects of the public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) under Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
These projects were cleared under Kyoto Protocol which is a global cooperative attempt to address threat of increasing growth of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and per capita GHG emission. It encourages industries to earn carbon credits by reducing green house gas emissions and to be environment friendly. The company will invest about Rs 11 crore in these projects. Four CDM projects are being implemented by the company in its smelter, captive power plant (CPP) and refinery units. Better technology would be used to further reduce GHG in these areas.
