The Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC), headed by former Karnataka chief minister M Veerappa Moily, will submit 18 reports to the Centre recommending reforms in various aspects of governance over the next one year.

The ARC members were in Bangalore last week to interact with experts in the fields of public administration and governance. The ARC organised four public meetings to elicit response from citizens also.

Moily and the ARC members had a meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and top state government officials on reducing corruption.

"We are looking into various aspects of governance. From now on, every month, at least one or two reports will be compiled and submitted to the government. In all, we will submit 18 reports on various subjects," Moily had told reporters.

The commission is looking into many areas to improve public governance. "Discussions are on at various levels. We will present a report on Disaster Management early next month and on Public Order by end of October or early November," he added.

He said the commission will suggest stringent measures to curb corruption in the report on Ethics in Governance.

"Strengthening of existing regulatory bodies, speedy sanction to prosecute those facing corruption charges and confiscation of properties of the guilty are some of the actions the commission will propose," Moily stated.
