Monsoon will not keep its date with Delhi on Tuesday with weather officials declaring that it would probably hit the capital in first week of July because of a lull in the system. |
"Monsoon has been delayed and it will probably hit Delhi in the first week of July," Dr SK Subramanian from the Indian Meteorological Department said. |
The system is likely to get revived in the first week of July, he said, adding that the present conditions were likely to continue for two-three days. The monsoon system was in a lull phase and except in Kerala and rainfall had been scanty over the past few days, he said. |
However, monsoon within or before seven days of the usual date is called a normal onset. Last year for Delhi, the onset had occurred on July 5, Dr RC Vashishtha from the IMD's Safdarjung office said. |
