Intermittent showers lashed many parts of Jammu city and its surroundings bringing the much needed relief to the people who were reeling under heat wave conditions for past several days.
The people in the city and its surrounding areas heaved a sigh of relief when showers preceded by winds since last evening brought down the mercury.
The Metrological department, however, said that the showers were not monsoon rains.
The Met department has forecast cloudy sky with rains and thunderstorms till tomorrow.
About 0.8 mm rainfall was experienced in the city today. The temperature recorded at 1200 hours was around 27 degree Celsius, which was 12.5 degree less than the maximum temperature recorded yesterday.
The winter capital was facing sweltering heat for past few days with maximum temperature hovering between 44 and 45 degrees.
