Gross enrollment of students for higher education in Tamil Nadu has increased 18 per cent as against the national average of 13 per cent, according to higher education minister P Palaniappan. Besides, 45 new colleges, which forms a part of the state government's Vision 2023, are in the pipeline.
The document envisage around Rs 19,000 crore for the education sector, including Rs 5,000 crore for school improvement and centre of excellence and skill development, the minister informed the Assembly .
