The BJP yesterday demanded that the Union government should move the Lok Pal Bill in this session of Parliament to demonstrate its sincerity in fighting corruption.
The parliamentary standing committee on home affairs submitted its report on the Lok Pal Bill in the last session, but the government is yet to take a look at it.
Prime Minister IK Gujrals calim that he would not compromise on corruption would not carry conviction unless he demonstrated this through action, BJP vice-president KL Sharma said. It was all the more necessary for the United Front, which, along with the Congress, had surrendered to corruption in Bihar, he charged. The decision to raise the Lok Pal Bill issue was taken at a meeting of the BJPs parliamentary party.
The meeting also decided to set up a four-man committee to articulate the partys stand on the bill that seeks to regularise out of turn allotment of government accomodation.
The party would support the bill, but it wanted the bill to provide for action against those allottees who paid bribe, Sharma said.
