The MP government is yet to fulfil its promises made in its manifesto and the Industrial Policy 2004. |
According to sources, the state government has not delivered on high quality and regular power supply; land allotment rules; the creation of special industrial area development authority; store purchase rules; the creation of an urban haat in Indore and other places; environment clearance; abrogation of mandatory renewal of a no-objection certificate from the pollution control board; industrial land and building management rules; land allotment on concessionary rates for warehousing; stamp duty related issue in industrial areas; issues pertaining to stamp duty in the case of sale and acquisition of sick units by financial institutions and banks; the creation of a national level mandi in Katni for marble trade; and exemptions from stamp duty to revival of sick units under various contracts. |
Industry is suffering due to delay in issuing notifications pertaining to these issues even after two years of the industrial promotion policy, industry associations have said in their memorandum and suggestions submitted to the Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation. |
"The policy is going to be amended and the issues will be sorted out," said a senior government official. But the industry does not have high hopes. |
"We have been writing to the state government for the past few years but our demands are not met,'' an office bearer of the Pithampur Audyogik Sangathan told Business Standard, adding, "concrete steps are needed to reduce bureaucratic interference in the implementation of industry policy and related issues." |
Power-related issues, land allotment, store purchase rules and tax-related matters are paramount on the association's agenda. Almost all industry associations have asked the government to have a soft approach on these issues. |
The department of industry is also learnt to have been organising two programmes in the days to interact with various industrial organisations and associations. |
