Brimming over with huge investment proposals, Madhya Pradesh government is fast working on developing seven industrial growth centres at various locations. It has plans to develop ten more growth centres at different locations at a later stage.

The development of industrial growth centres would take shape in a phased manner and two phases have been planned for the purpose.

“In the first phase, government has plans to develop seven growth centres, while ten will be developed in the second phase. State audyogik kendra vikas nigams (AKVN), autonomous bodies of the state industries’ department; have already identified land of nearly 1,000 hectares for the first phase. These centres will come up in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Gwalior,” an official in an industrial department informed.

The AKVNs have completed feasibility report in one industrial growth centre in Bhopal for IT-specific academic investment project, where Anil Dhirubhai Ambani promoted Reliance group is making an investment to set up an institute. The other growth centre would come up at Bagroda, for which a detailed report has been prepared. Bhopal growth centres need 350 hectares of land.

Two growth centres will come up in Bhavsinghpura in Indore and the other will be developed as Crystal IT Park at Bhanwarkua road Indore.

After making several efforts no private player evinced interest in developing Crystal IT Park in Indore. The government earlier last year decided to develop it solo.

“Crystal IT park has already started attracting investment proposals while Bhavsinghpura industrial growth Center will be developed for attracting investment,” the official said.

Under phase-I, another growth center will come up in Ujjain on an area of 52 hectares of land, while two more will come u in Gwalior in Pahadi and Gadaipura for readymade garment complex. The Gadaipura garment complex will be developed on private partnership basis. “Tenders for the purpose have already been floated,” the official further added.

In second phase Bhopal will have two growth centers, Indore and Ujjain will have three each while Rewa will also boast another growth center. The second phase will require 1378 hectares of land.
