The Energy and Research Institute (TERI) has signed a deal with the Madhya Pradesh government to study the impact of climate changes. TERI and state-owned Environment Planning and Coordination Organisation (EPCO) will jointly work for twin challenges of climate change and sustainable development.

“We will also jointly work to promote emission-free energy generation, for example we will provide on-point chargeable solar lanterns in eight hundred villages of the state,” said RK Pachauri, noted environmentalist and director general of the TERI while advocating that states like Madhya Pradesh should utilise their abundant solar resources instead of using fossil fuels.

Pachauri further added, his organisation and the state government will work on public awareness and capacity creation among stakeholders.
