Cash-starved Madhya Pradesh is going to organise a week-long gala show to commemorate its 53rd Foundation Day beginning November 1. Named ‘Aiye Apna Madhya Pradesh Banaye (Come, build our Madhya Pradesh)’, the show involves a variety of programmes at each district and cultural programmes in the state capital.

Minister for culture Laxmikant Sharma did not disclose the budget earmarked for the purpose, but said, “We want to do in the minimum possible budget.”

A secretary-rank official in the department of finance also refused to comment on the sanctioned budget.

The week-long programme at the district level envisages to start new development activities like white-wash of some government buildings, sapling plantation and exhibitions.

Performers like Shaan have also been invited to the state capital. Other performing artistes have also been invited for the week-long programme.

Last month, minister of finance Raghavji had said that he would make all efforts to check non-planned expenditure.
