The agri-export zone for wheat in Madhya Pradesh will soon get special status, which will enable it to route exports through private partnership.
The Madhya Pradesh Agro Industries Development Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Cargill Foods and Hindustan Lever Ltd for procuring wheat.
Speaking to Business Standard, K K Tiwari, managing director of MP Agro Industries Development said, "We will procure Durum, Sharbati and Lokwan varieties of wheat for both these companies, and play the role of a facilitator in this venture. We will procure 15,000 tonnes of Lokwan and Sharbati wheat for Cargill Foods and 25,000 tonnes for Hindustan Lever. A senior official of the ministry of food and consumers has assured that we will be awarded special status for the wheat agri-export zone.
