Keen to check the incidence of power theft, the state department of energy has sought the help of home department in its drive against illegal power connections. |
"The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) will be taking up a drive against illegal power connections throughout the state and we have requested the home department to provide all necessary help to us," state energy minister Dilip Walse-Patil told reporters here. |
The MSEB will require help of state police while initiating action against those using power illegally, he said after meeting the deputy chif minister and home minister R R Patil and state DGP K K Kashyap. |
The home minister has assured all possible help, he said adding, this would contribute in fulfilling the power demands along with the state government's efforts to get more power from the neighbouring states. |
On defaulters, the energy minister said the MSEB has been asked to take them (the defaulters) to task. "The officials have been asked to cut power connections if they fail to clear their dues," he said. |
