The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is expected to approve the cancellation of the contract awarded to Reliance Infrastructure to develop the Worli Haji Ali sea link project, citing lack of substantial action by the developer. The project entails an investment of Rs 5,100 crore.

The MSRDC board is slated to meet on Thursday.

State public works minister and MSRDC Chairman Jaidutt Kshirsagar told Business Standard, “The board will take a final view on scrapping the contract. MSRDC has already received feedback from the Attorney General of India. He had said the concession agreement may be terminated and Reliance Infrastructure’s bank guarantee may be returned.”

An MSRDC official said after the board approved the cancellation of the contract awarded to Reliance Infrastructure, it would be forwarded to the state infrastructure committee.

Reliance Infrastructure officials did not comment for this story.
