Multiplex operators head for hinterland

 Giving a boost to the entertainment industry, multiplexes have come up in Naroda and Bapunagar areas, predominantly occupied by mill and diamond workers who earn an average Rs 150-200 a day.

 Under the provisions of the tourism policy announced by the state government recently, multiplexes in Gujarat have been granted a five-year tax holiday.

 This has prompted the entertainment industry to set up these huge cinema hall complexes in various parts of the city.

 With competition hotting up, the multiplexes have come up with various schemes to attract cine-goers. The new multiplexes in Naroda and Bapunagar have drastically slashed the ticket rates from Rs 100 to Rs 40 in a bid to woo customers.

 Rajesh Purohit, manager of Devi Multiplex in Naroda, said,
