Mumbai police chief transferred

The Maharashtra government on Thursday transferred the Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik for allegedly mishandling the Azad Maidan violence in which two persons were killed and more than 60 police personnel were injured. Patnaik, who has been under attack from opposition parties in this regard, has been promoted at the rank of the Director General of Police (DGP) and posted as DG of Maharashtra State Security Council.
