Jharkhand Chief Minister, Arjun Munda, has asked his officials to try to woo private investors and institutions to set up medical colleges and hospitals in the state. Health and healthcare education sector is almost entirely in the state's hands.

Munda said the state government would launch a special drive to deliver quality medical services to bring down death and sickness.

The state has limited resources and it was not possible for the state government to provide quality health services to all, he said. As service delivery was all-important, the state would incentivise and help to encourage private investors and institutions to develop health care services, he said.

The state government would spend Rs 110 crore to improve the quality of healthcare delivered through government institutions and other agencies in Jharkhand in the current fiscal.

The state government has also made a special provision of Rs 40 crore for improvement of medical education.
