It was a musical performance with a difference.
'Indian Ocean', a contemporary fusion band, has given a serious message for checking corruption and maintaining harmony through their songs performed at Commonwealth Games Village here yesterday.
The five-member band started with a song 'Khajuraho' -- a spiritual song, played on traditional beats with the help of western instruments. Later they enthralled the audience with their songs like Desh Mera (Peepli Live) among others at jam-packed amphitheatre here.
The band also sung a special song, mixed with vernacular, to check corruption and 'Bandey' (from the movie Black Friday) that urge people to maintain communal harmony.
Indian Ocean, the band playing the music worldwide for about three decades now, is known for integrating sufism, mythology and revolution in their singing and musical performances.
The performance yesterday was the last in the series of cultural events being organised by Delhi Government at the Games Village to entertain athletes and international delegates living here for about a fortnight.
Bands and known singers like 'Soul Mate', led by Rudy Wallang and Tipriti 'Tips' Kharbaangar, Pentgram (by musician Vishal), popular Hindi song 'Masakali' fame Mohit Chauhan, Punjabi pop star Daler Mehndi and Delhi-based Euphoria led by Dr Palash Sen have already performed here since then.
On October 12, famous singers and composers Hariharan, Sivamani and Louis Banks also performed. PTI
