With the government bringing some fresh amendments to the Nuclear Liability Bill, BJP today said there seems to be a deviation from text that was agreed upon and and it was closely examining the proposed draft while the Left made it clear that the changes were unacceptable.

"We are examining all the papers. Prima facie, it appears that there is a deviation from the text which was agreed upon. The language as framed (now) substantially nullifies supplier liability," Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley told PTI.

One of the 18 amendments cleared by the Union Cabinet on Friday suggests that an accident in a nuclear plant should have occurred as a consequence of an act done with an "intent" if an operator has to claim damages from supplier.
