The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned new projects worth Rs 151.78 crore for the state under 20th tranche of Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for 2014-15.
The sanction includes 17 flood protection and drainage development projects. These irrigation related works envisage to create, stabilise and develop an irrigation potential of 86,587 hectares in the state. With the new sanctions, the total amount sanctioned to Odisha during the year by Nabard has gone up to Rs 1,354.72 crore under the 20th tranche for creation of infrastructure in various sectors like irrigation, rural connectivity (roads and bridges), fisheries, animal husbandry etc. The cumulative sanctions by Nabard has touched Rs 10,698 crore to the state for implementation of more than 1.92 lakh projects in sectors like irrigation, rural connectivity, animal husbandry, infrastructure development, jetties and passenger waiting halls for inland waterway transport and rural drinking water supply system. For development of warehousing facilities in 111 primary agriculture credit societies (PACS), Nabard has sanctioned Rs 57.57 crore for construction of 111 godowns /warehouses of capacities of 300 tonnes to 1,500 tonnes.
