While Rajasthan is known for its large number of fairs and festivals throughout the year, the Department of Tourism has decided to hard-sell the Nagaur Fair slated to be held here from February 13 to 16. |
Rajasthan Minister of State for Tourism Usha Punia said the Nagaur Fair had the potential to become another 'Pushkar' in terms of attracting tourists to this major event of the region. |
Punia said that the Nagaur Fair was the second-largest cattle fair after Pushkar and as many as 70,000 bullocks, camels and horses are traded every year during the festival. |
The historic fair will witness the animals lavishly decorated, with the best beads and with incredible patterns cut into their coats. Even their owners flaunt colourful turbans and long moustaches. |
