The health condition of Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu worsened on Wednesday as he resisted treatment. Naidu also declined to take even fluids.

This is the sixth day of his indefinite hunger strike seeking adequate compensation to farmers, whose crops were damaged in the recent floods and heavy rains.

A six-member team of expert doctors from Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences is monitoring the health condition of the former chief minister. The doctors wanted to shift him to the intensive care unit but he refused even that. Following this, the doctors arranged some medical equipment in the room where he is admitted.

“We are trying to use the same room as an ICU,” doctors at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences said.

Earlier, Naidu locked his room and did not let anyone inside. His wife Bhuvaneswari, family members and senior leaders of TDP tried in vain to persuade him to take at least some fluids.

Former home minister T Devender Goud and CPI state secretary K Narayana, who led the siege at the Rangareddy district collector’s office here, were taken into preventive custody along with scores of party workers.
