The marketing committee of the four public sector petroleum companies has decided to bring down naphtha prices by Rs 660 a tonne.
However, the committee, which met in Mumbai recently, has raised the price of low sulphur heavy stock (LSHS) by Rs 270 a tonne and that of furnace oil (FO) by Rs 250 a kilo litre. The new prices came into effect from the midnight of July 31-August 1, 2001.
While the naphtha prices have been brought down from Rs 12,550 a tonne (from port refineries and the north-eastern region) to Rs 11,890 a tonne, LSHS prices have been raised from Rs 8,200 a tonne to Rs 8,470 a tonne, and FO prices have been increased from Rs 7,650 a tonne to Rs 7,900 a tonne.
The committee said the price revision was necessitated by market conditions and change in the international prices of these fuels.
These prices are exclusive of excise duty, freight, state surcharge, sales tax and local levies. The prices will be applicable in all regions.
