Nashik civic body revenues up 4.59%

Sets a target of Rs 585.04 crore for the current fiscal.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has registered an increase of 4.59 per cent in revenues during the financial year 2008-09, as compared with last year.

Revenues during 2008-09 stood at Rs 496.68 crore as against Rs 474.87 crore in the previous year. Out this , Rs 390 crore came from octroi, Rs 68.88 crore was from property and other taxes, Rs 10 crore from development tax and Rs 27.80 crore from water cess, sources from NMC said.

The corporation has set a revenue recovery target of Rs 585.04 crore for the current fiscal 2009-10. Of this, it expects Rs 438 crore through octroi, Rs 97.34 crore through property and other taxes, Rs 12 crore through development tax and Rs 37.70 crore through water cess.

 

Octroi accounts for 70 per cent of the total revenues. NMC’s income through octroi has increased almost three-fold in the last six years. While it stood at Rs 114.95 crore in 2000-01, this was at Rs 390 crore in FY 2008-09.
