The city has geared up once again for the 7th mega event ‘Nashik Run: 2009’ being held on 11th January 2009. The event, which will have around 15,000 participants, is expected to collect the charity amounting to Rs. 75 lakh.

The event ‘Nashik Run’ is held every year in the month of January by the Nashik Run Charitable Trust (NRCT), founded by three major companies- Motor Industries Co. Ltd (MICO), EPCOS India and Thyssenkrup, for a very noble cause of helping the deprived sections of the society. This year too the event is to be held on 11th January at Mahatma Nagar ground here, where thousands of citizens, young and old, will run 4.5 kms with an aim to help the deprived sections of the society.

“Funds are collected through donations and sponsorships from various corporate and participants who register for the run. Registered participants get one ‘Nashik Run’ T-shirt. The amount collected is directed towards funding and promoting various important and deserving social projects. The uniqueness of the Nashik Run organisation is that not a single paisa is used on administrative cost,” said Subbu Hegde, Vice-Chairman, Nashik Run Charitable Trust and Vice-president (Commercial), Bosch Ltd, at a press conference.

‘Nashik Run’ was born with a vision and desire to serve the underprivileged in and around Nashik and also to spread the message of the healthy living among the Nashikites. The main idea is to help those who want to help themselves. The projects are implemented following careful evaluation by volunteers.

It involves executing some projects on their own and funding of various long-lasting and productive projects undertaken by NGOs and charitable organisations.

The NRCT has succeeded in generating a platform for like-minded people to come together and help the needy. Maintaining and spreading the feeling of charity and goodness towards fellow human beings has been the sole motto.
