Nasscom wants special courts to handle cyber crimes

Nasscom has asked the government to set up special or fast track courts for early conviction in cyber crime matters.

Conviction in the existing judicial system was very time consuming, Nasscom President Kiran Karnik told reporters on the sidelines of the ITeS-Bpo conclave here.

He said Nasscom had suggested to the government that a separate bench be set up to handle cyber crimes for early conviction. This would instill confidence in the minds of the foreign firms whose jobs were being outsourced to India, he added.

Commenting on the incidents of cyber crimes, Karnik said compared to other countries, India was still a safe and secure destination. "However, there is no room for complacency," he added.
