Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today raised serious concerns regarding attempts by some NGOs in the European Union to tarnish the image of Indian industry. Nath took up the issue during his bilateral discussions with Finnish Foreign Trade and Development Minister Paavo Vayrynen. "Some European NGOs have been spreading false information on Indian industry. These NGOs have falsely implicated sectors like textiles of using child labour and inhuman working conditions. India has very good labour laws and Indian companies function in a responsible way. If such charges are made, it disrupts trade," Nath said. He added that the Indian industry may complain to the central government regarding such false reports and ask for retaliatory action. |
