Naxal liberated zone is baseless propaganda: Govt

The government today said there was no liberated zone created by naxals in the country and all talks of such a development are "baseless propaganda."

In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken said, "The talk of so called liberated zones is baseless propaganda."

He said there was no proposal for a single command in Naxal prone areas to gather better intelligence inputs.

Giving details of the total number of civilians killed in naxal violence during the last three years, Maken said a total of 1,726 civilians were killed which included 255 deaths till June 30 this year.
