The National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would increase the number of allies before the general elections due next year.
“The number of NDA allies will increase and it will be clear within next few days,” BJP President Rajnath Singh told reporters here today afternoon. Many political parties are in touch with the NDA leaders to join the alliance, he said.
The BJP President cautioned the Congress party to ensure that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) remained intact as most of its allies could join the NDA. “The number (of the NDA allies) could even increase from the earlier strength (of 24 that it had when the NDA was in power),” Singh said.
It will be a pre and post poll alliance with the parties, Singh said, adding that a majority of it are regional political parties.
“The biggest reason why the UPA allies are willing to switch over to the NDA is that the parties are aware that the country is not safe in the hands of Congress-led alliance,” Singh explained. The NDA will return to power with absolute majority in the general elections (due next year), he added.
Even in the ensuing state assembly elections, the BJP is going to get a clean sweep in all the states. “This is the reason why the UPA government has proposed to stop the telecast of exit polls,” he added.
