Nearly 10% electorates cast their votes in MP by 0900 hrs

Nearly 10% electorates exercised their right to franchise for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh till 09.00 am for the remaining 16 out of the total 29 seats in the state.         

The polling began sharp at 07.00 am in the 16 Lok Sabha constituencies and so far it is going on peacefully with no untoward incident reported from anywhere, the state's Chief Electoral Officer J S Mathur told reporters.         

A total of 9.89% voters including 11.97 men and 7.83 women have exercised their right to franchise, he said.         

The first phase of polling for 13 seats was held on April 23 in the state.         

The constituency wise poll percentage is Ratlam 12.5, Guna 12.5, Khandwa 12.12, Rajgarh 11.5, Morena 11, Khandwa 10, Damoh 9.08, Bhind 8.8, Gwalior 8, Sagar 10, Tikamgarh 10.5, Dewas 7.5, Ujjain 8, Mandsaur 9.95, Indore 7.5 and Dhar 7.39, he said.         

A report was received from Morena's Lohiapura booth that Dalits were not allowed to cast their votes and the facts in this regard are being verified, Mathur said.         

Reports of EVMs malfunctioning was also received from three-four places and further details are awaited, he said.
